Equitable life of Canada (“Equitable Life”) states in its website that it is one of Canada’s largest mutual life insurance companies. It’s head office is located in Waterloo, Ontario.  In 2017 Equitable Life boasted a net income of $106 million and assets under its administration in the amount of $4.1 billion.

Equitable life sells long term and short term disability insurance policies. Many of those disability insurance policies are offered through employers.

Interview with CHCH TV: May 4th, 2018

Many of our clients at Kotak Law have been surprised and upset when Equitable Life has denied or terminated their disability insurance claim.  Sometimes they are told that there is insufficient medical evidence or that the test for total disability has changed and there is some other job that they can do. They may be told that they haven’t completed the right rehabilitation program.

At Kotak Law our disability insurance lawyers have been successful in suing Equitable Life and securing significant lump sum settlements for our clients who suffer from illnesses such as chronic pain, chronic fatigue, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, fibromyalgia, colitis, IBS, cancer, heart disease, migraines, strokes or even stress alone.
